Summer Reading Challenge 2019

Finally, after years of wanting to try it, I’m in a good place where I can attempt to have a Summer Reading Challenge!

What reading challenge? Well, my popular Light Novel resource blog English Light Novels’ reading challenge! (Read more here!)

For the past few years, I’ve wanted to join, but between 2016’s move across the world to Japan, 2017’s adjustments to the heat and my first year here, 2018’s mental health struggles…summer hasn’t always been my season. But this year, things have smoothed out to more managable levels: I have energy, I can focus on things for myself without guilt, and I have a backlog that I’m ready to approach.

(Plus, I’ve got desk time for days starting in July and through August, and time in the evenings now to keep cool with a thick book.)

After much mulling and an hour of picking over my book piles (multiple, naturally) I’ve decided on thirteen books that I’d like to attempt to read over the Summer season. Let’s dig in!

Books Listed (Top to Bottom):

  • The Dissappearance of Hatsune Miku by Muya Agami and cosMo@Bousou P
  • Napping Princess by Muya Agami and cosMo@Bousou P

13 books over 3 months is a lot, but not impossible. My central reading challenge -reading 54 manga this year- is already near completion, and it’s only behind because I haven’t added all my catching up on The Promised Neverland, which adds quite a few volumes to my count. I think I might add two more: Book Girl and maybe something from J-Novel Club, but that’s up for debate.

For now, here’s what the summer’s gonna be focused on, in addition to my Japanese reading and continued study, which I desperately need to pick back up. I really wanna have a healthy habit of continuous Japanese study.

Question: What are you going to be reading during the summer season? Feel free to comment: I’ll be happy to reply!

I’m really curious about other Light Novel and Japanese novel fans. I hope your dog days of this increasingly warm Summer are filled with good books, cool drinks, and something sweet.

And as always… see you next post!
